🍍 Summertime Content Audit

Hey Reader!

When was the last time you did a content audit? 😱 A content audit is when you pull ALL of your blog posts into a spreadsheet and analyze how they're doing.

I realized recently that it had been a loooong time since I reviewed my content.

I was shocked when I did one recently and found over 100 posts that could stand to be updated.

Recently, I switched from using Airtable for my to Notion and that reinvigorated my desire to go through the content audit process again.

Doing this during the summer is a great way to make use of your limited working time and to get a head start on preparing for Q4. It's also a great task you can do by the pool, while the kids are playing at a park or trampoline park, or even on a road trip (if you're lucky enough to not get car sick like me 😉)

A content audit can help in so many ways!

💎 Finding hidden gems (recipes within a recipe!)

📈 Finding posts that are ready for a refresh

🍎 Discovering low hanging fruit posts

🗑️ Finding content that needs to be deleted

🗓️ Quantifying how many new posts vs updates you need to fill out your calendar

If you've ever felt stuck or out of ideas, a content audit might be the best place to start.

My whole process for conducting an audit can be found in this podcast episode. And if you're feeling really wild and crazy, you can work through a category audit next 😉

Have you ever done this kind of audit before? If not, when will you?

Hey Reader! Happy Friday. It's been a week at our house, I'll spare you the details but think broken appliances, food poisoning, and a 4 inch nail in my tire 🤪 So I'm beyond happy to make it to Friday this week. Earlier this week I was working on one of our upcoming sites that's getting ready to launch next week and it hit me that there's one part of our redesign process that I love more than anything else. I love the homepage because it's key for brand clarity and helping your readers get...

a table topped with chocolate chip cookies next to a glass of milk

Recently we had some friends over for dinner (something we LOVE to do) and she brought some amazing chocolate chip cookies. Chocolate chips cookies are my husband's love language, but usually he only likes my recipe. So when he likes someone else's recipe, I need to have it! When I asked her which blog the recipe came from, she had no idea. She spent 30+ minutes on that website while making her cookie dough and couldn't tell me one thing about it. Even when she loved the results, that didn't...

Hey Reader, One of the goals I often hear from our clients for their website redesign is that they want their readers to be able to get lost in their content. In order to give your readers that experience, your website needs to be organized. Well thought out categories are one of the primary ways that you can get organized, as well as improve reader experience and contribute significantly to SEO and site navigation! ➡️ Click to listen to the episode: Do's and Don'ts of Category Pages for Food...
